Bentley & More Summer Law Clerks reporting for duty!

This summer marks the third consecutive year that Bentley & More proudly welcomes talented law students to participate in the Bentley & More Summer Law Clerk Program. Each summer, Bentley & More provides three paid summer law clerk positions to law students who have demonstrated a desire to represent consumers harmed by others with the goal of becoming a trial lawyer. The Bentley & More Law Clerks work alongside our trial attorneys, gaining invaluable experience in the inner workings of a consumer litigation firm focused on taking matters to and through trial.

In addition to the Summer Law Clerk Program, and having enjoyed participation in its inaugural year last year, Bentley & More will again include a 4th “rotating” member to the Law Clerk Team with our participation in the OCTLA Mentorship Committee’s Internship Program. This talented group of young professionals supports our team of attorneys in a variety of ways including assembling and organizing information for legal documents, researching legal issues, assembling case materials, and writing legal briefs. Our program also offers the Law Clerks an opportunity to attend depositions, court hearings, settlement proceedings, and possibly even trial with their mentors. We are thrilled with the current talent this summer and look forward to working alongside these bright, young professionals. Plus, they are fun to be around. Welcome to the Team!

Feature Fridays at Bentley & More

For this installment of “Feature Friday” we bring to you Attorney of Counsel Denise Curran Davies. Ms. Davies obtained her undergraduate degree at U.C. Irvine in 1988 and traveled a semester abroad before completing her law degree at Pepperdine University School of Law in 1992 where she graduated with honors. While at Pepperdine, Denise founded the first Hispanic Law Student Association and served as their President.

She then spent 21 years as a worker’s compensation defense attorney and therefore understands the difficult challenges that insurance companies present to our clients. Accordingly, Denise is able to work around those obstacles in order to obtain the maximum benefits for our clients. Her knowledge on the defense aspect serves our offices well.  Denise now represents most of our professional athlete clients, as well as other workers compensation clients.

In her free time, Ms. Davies enjoys spending time with her family, her children, traveling, cooking and playing with her dogs. (The order of which depends on the day in court!)

How Do You Prove Wrongful Death?

If someone causes wrongful death in California, the civil courts permit the victim’s surviving family members – typically a spouse or children – to demand compensation from the at-fault party. The burden of proof in an Irvine wrongful death claim falls on the plaintiff. The surviving family member must prove that the defendant did... Read More
